We've already covered what solar energy is and how you can put it to use within your home. But now, let's answer the next big question: How do you store that energy for when you need it most?
whether that's at night, during bad weather, or if the grid goes down. A solar battery storage system has you covered.
Welcome back to part three of our blog series where we answer frequently asked questions about Solar energy and the renewables industry!

What is solar battery storage?
A solar battery system stores the electricity your panels generate during the day for later use. Instead of sending your excess energy straight back to the grid, the battery saves it for you. That means when the sun isn’t shining, or if there’s a grid outage, you can still power your home, keeping yourself covered and energy-secure.
How does solar battery storage work?
Solar battery storage works in quite a simple way, think of it as sending and forwarding a message. During the day, your panels generate electricity.
Any surplus is sent into your battery for safe keeping.
When your household needs more power, the battery automatically forwards that stored energy to your home.
A modern hybrid inverter makes this seamless, switching between solar, stored energy, and the grid when needed, without you even having to lift a finger.
This little graph below shows it, the panels send the energy to the storage, to be forwarded to the home. Like sending and forwarding a message!

Why does battery storage matter?
Battery Storage goes further than convenience, this addition changes your solar setup into a complete energy solution.
Energy Independence – Reduce reliance on the national grid.
Cost Savings – Use stored energy when electricity prices are high.
Sustainability – Maximise the use of clean solar power instead of fossil fuels
Conclusion
Solar battery storage ensures the power you generate during the day is available whenever you need it most. Whether that be at night, during emergencies, or when the grid is unreliable. Pairing solar panels with battery storage doesn’t just mean generating clean energy, it means unlocking true energy independence.
